A legend in the state of Missouri, Macauley was born and grew up in Saint Louis where he would play basketball in high school, university and into the pros. In 1948, he led SLU to the NIT Championship and was named the 1949 AP Player of the year. He would eventually go on to the NBA where he would lead the St. Louis Hawks to the 1958 NBA
