From Vestiarium Scoticum
The book appears to be a curious mixture of fact and fiction in keeping with the romantic ideology of the time
in a mid-19th cent
' Apparently MacLeod was a special friend of the Hays/ Stuarts/ Sobieskis and one of the brothers gave him the sketch many years before the Vestiarium Scoticum was published
DRUMMOND OF PERTH (WEATHERED) DRESS From Vestiarium ScoticumAlso known as the 'Perthshire or Drummond', 'Perthshire Rock & Wheel' or the 'Drummond of Perth'. This sett is said to be a variation of a pattern called 'Stewart of Fingask', after a plaid allegedly left by Prince Charles Edward Stuart at Fingask in Perthshire in 1746 (William Wilsons of Bannockburn' 1819 Key Pattern Book no. 78, ed. Peter MacDonald 1996). Also recorded in James Logan 'The Scottish Gael' 1831.
