Germany, Wehrmacht. A Cholm Shield Province of China The reverse engraved ‘Hancocks 269’(Cholmschild). Constructed of silvered magnetic iron, the obverse consisting of a shield bearing a Heer style German national eagle clutching a Cross Patte bearing a mobile swastika, situated above an inscription of CHOLM 1942, unmarked, measuring 38 mm (w) x 64 mm (h), demonstrating loss of silver finish throughout the base metal, in addition to the loss of its reverse prongs (resulting in the absence of its wool liner and backer) and replacement by
