Constructed of silver, the obverse of the medal bearing a raised and rightward facing profile of Emperor Franz Joseph, circumscribed by name and title, the reverse bearing a central wreathed inscription of SIGNUM LAUDIS (SIGN OF PRAISE), unmarked, measuring 25. 6 mm (w) x 45. 3 mm (h), weighing 26. 8 grams (inclusive of ribbon and clasp), on loop from a crown suspension with its period
