The 1' long, glossy, dark green leaves of Hemiboea subcapitata are borne on opposite sides of a 1' tall, fleshy green stem. The plant spreads rapidly via rhizomes growing just below the soil surface, forming a 5' wide patch in just 2 years. Although the incredibly bold foliage is enough reason to grow it, the clumps are topped in late September with clusters
