Epigraphie Murnane † Amenhotep III andPlutarch's work has been widely used as a historical source without ever questioning the nature, meaning, and modalities of the Chaeronea biographer's approach. Drawing on a resolutely interdisciplinary approach, this work seeks to identify the specificity of Plutarch's historical biographical writing in order to avoid the methodological errors that the confusion of genres has sometimes encouraged in the past.
